50 / 50 For Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research
Reason
2010 is a double celebration year for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. It is our 50th Birthday and 25th Anniversary of Sir Ian Botham's 1st ever walk. To celebrate these we are proposing "50 for 50". This is a unique way of involving cricket to fundraise across the UK for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Method
Sir Ian will be walking through 10 locations in 10 days raising awareness and money in April this year. 9 of these locations have a 1st class county cricket club.
By engaging these clubs we can use this a our launch pad for "50 for 50"
With these clubs on board and the ECB we can launch "50 for 50" nationwide from grass routes to international level.
What is "50 for 50"?
If a batsman scores 50 or above they put 50p into the collection box.
If a bowler goes for 50 or more runs they put 50p into the collection box.
It's as simple as that!
At the end of the season the team scorer can add up the 50's and make sure the monies correspond then send in the money to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research!
How can you get involved?
Every club has a premier batsmen and a bowler who shall we say leaks a few runs! Make the most of your club assets and help raise some money for a fantastic cause.
If a club sponsor wants to match the money the team raises all the better for us!
There will be an incentive prize for the team that raises the most over the season.
