Has anyone had any problems in terms of time getting their visa sorted. Bit concerned that many seem to have got their passports back within a week and mine is apparently still at the High Commission for "further assessment", 8 days after sending it off. Supposed to be doing Kolkata but starting to get a bit edgy... Any reassurance would be much appreciated!

I sent mine off last Monday, special delivery, should of arrived on the Tuesday but didn't get there until the Wednesday! I can claim the cost back from Royal Mail but have to complete a form of similar magnitude to the Indian visa application to claim my £6.85 back!

Anyway I digress, my application was with the India high commission under process on 19/11 after that it should only take a couple days to be returned (hopefully by the end of the week) and hopefully approved.

If not the only option to get it done in time is to go in person, which I understand you can do and get in done in a day.

Well done to everyone who applied by post, mine only took a week. No panic on the streets of Barnsley, Dublin, Dundee, Humberside, I wonder to myself. Burn down the disco, hang the blessed DJ because the music that they constantly play. It says nothing to me about my life, hang the blessed DJ, because the music they constantly play. On the Calcutta side-streets that you slip down, etc, etc.

Only doing Calcutta and flying out on the Sunday before the Test. A couple of days soaking up the West Bengal rays by the lovely banks of the charming Hooghly river...alternatively 48 hours holded-up in a collection of windowless, pitch-black, back-street boozers with a dopping of demented and delinquent, barmy army wrong uns.

Where you staying mate? We'll have to catch up for some demented & delinquent behaviour. I'm in a place called Bawa Walson on Sudder Street.

Hello Kev, I believe we are staying nearby but towards the Cathedral as Ian wanted to be closer to God, he thanks that might help him. Pah! There's more chance of West Brom qualifying for the Champions League. See you soon mate.

Obviously too late for most on this tour, but for future info the 2-month re-visit restriction on Indian tourist visas has just been lifted by the Indian authorities:

It does potentially give some people the opportunity to fly back out for the ODIs if they want! Thanks for pointing that out.
