Lack of 'budget' accom in Antigua, anyone got advice?

Hire a self catering apartment to cut down on eating / drinking out costs. Three of us stayed in Jolly Beach last time at a place on the marina, a twenty minute walk from the beach. Look at this site for some pretty good deals -

If headig into St Johns make sure you grab a few Wadadli beers at Andy's place....cracking bloke and a 'real' Carib bar!

Thanks Rich, I'll be travelling solo so I need 1-bed really. Whereabouts in St Johns is 'Andy's Place'?

Antigua doesn't have the same selection of accommodation as somewhere like Barbados, it's predominantly AI hotels on the coast for the tourists.

Before you decide where to stay you need to think about how you are going to get to the stadium. It's virtually impossible to get there by public transport. In 2009 I stayed at Jolly beach hotel, which is about the cheapest AI resort on the island. They ran a fleet of mini-buses to the ground (for day one anyway).

If you are travveling solo transport to the ground is going to be expensive.

This place rings a bell. Think some may have stayed there in 2009.

I note that the T20 world cup in Bangladesh next year is due to start on the 16th March. I further note that England are playing a T20 game in Bridgetown on the 13th March. I cannot see how the England team flying half-way round the world could arrive in Dacca at the earliest before the 16th March, totally jet lagged and knackered : not exactly fit and ready for a world cup. Is this going to be two different T20 teams, with a weak A team being sent to WI. I know that the venue for the T20 world cup could change (i.e. switched to SA), but as I understand it the dates for next years T20 world cup are fixed.
Just an observation. Any thoughts ?

Just booked 7 nights at Time out Hotel barbados ex manchester with Virgin.
Cost 874 each self catering Fri 7th Mar 1 Week.

That's for 8 Barmy Virgins.
First time abroad supporting England.
First time in Barbados, St Lawrence sounds fab!

What area do the players stay, anyone know?

Not too fussed about Antigua as went the other month but really looking forward to Barbados

From what I have seen I'm guessing most stay round St Lawerence Gap?

Is that the main place everyone tends to head for rather than Bridgetown?

I'm on about England fans in general not just barmy army groups

Also in Antigua I'm guessing most people just go AI and stay in resorts or do a fair few head for the capital? will the barmy army be looking at sorting out a main bar to go to or just stay at the grand pineapple?
