I don't think the BA ever 'hated' him either. He was more of a figure of ridicule for some truly laughable bowling spells. A bit like the Aussies used to ridicule Tufnell, Malcolm and Fraser for their fielding expertise.

I still don't rate him that wildly, think he's dangerous for 2 or 3 overs per day but he cant keep it up pace or accuracy wise. Root made him look very ordinary, he is just the main beneficiary of some awful shot selection in the main

Johnson's rich vein of form is continuing against the Saffers and even as an Englishman I was delighted to see him skittle over Smith so early.
Seems like just about everyone underestimated him.

I never did, or this Australian team either. I could see last summer that this was a very useful Australian side. I had a very nice bet on Australia to beat England 5-0, and I've had a nice bet on Australia win this series as well. It seems that I rate this Australian side far higher than the bookies do.
