"The public are just interested in the Ashes and everything else doesn't matter too much," Collingwood said. |

what can you say to that, perhaps i and the other 40,000 people who turned up at old trafford (also known as the bomb site)... for the 2 t20 matches as well, waited around in the rain spent a fortune on travel and accomadation, food and a shed load of beer should send our receipts to him.... arsehole. |

I like Collingwood, but if that is what he said, it's a bit poor. |

Do you have the source and full text from this supposed quote ? Could be taken out of context as half a line of writing. Although to be fair to him isn't he actually right, I'd much rather England win the ashes than a 20/20 or ODI series and would rather spend my dwindling funds on seeing that which is exactly what I did. |

Only a hardcore cricket fan or statistician would remember the result of the ODI part of any tour from say 2 years ago. It means nothing. ODI's have their place, a good day out can be had with a decent standard of cricket. As it says in your bible, god rested on the 7th day of creating the world. 1-5 was a test and an ODI on the Saturday, Rest on the Sunday. The Prophet as Spoken |

I think he is proved right by tonights game not being a sell-out. |

The full quote: Quote: "The public are just interested in the Ashes and everything else doesn't matter too much," Collingwood said. "To us, as players, this is an important stepping stone, we want to keep improving our one-day cricket." Slightly different when you include the second part of his sentence... and the man does have a point, no? |

I don't think he does have a point mate. You aren't interested in the one dayers. I'm not interested in the one dayers. And neither are a lot of others. But the 40,000 who bought tickets for the T20 matches and the thousands who have bought tickets for the ODI series clearly are interested. |
