Shah's inability to run between the wickets, field/catch, or even look like an athlete in the field worries me. There are some who've got it and some who will never get it, and for me Shah falls in the latter category (and so does Bopara). There are some who seem to get opportunity after opportunity and still don't perform and there are others who never get a sniff. I've always thought you can spot quality a mile off, and particularly at the top level, and Morgan is one who seems to have something about him. There are some exceptions, of course, but Shah just doesn't inspire me, but it's just my opinion. I'm with you MO. I decent knock every blue moon is not good enough. Like you say he fielding and running between the wickets is not even club cricket standard let alone International standard. Bopara also isn't good enough. |

Once he consistently performs I'll willingly agee but are you expecting him to retain his place once KP is fit? and what was Bopara doing when he came in against SA, he needed to simply give Morgan, who was on fire, the strike, but instead he goes for the big shot first off? What I am happy about is the, in a strange, roundabout, way, we are going to have a side without Bopara, Bresnan, and now Prior. We just might be getting it right, eventually. Looking forward to seeing Davies in the side, as to me he has the something that Morgan is now showing and which Bopara, Bresnan, Prior, and Shah don't (in my opinion). Onions is OK instead of Bresnan, but obviously is no Freddie. KP and Freddie instead of Onions and Shah and we really are getting somewhere. I still can't believe that people have it in for Prior! And Bresnan to be fair what has Bresnan done wrong? |

We are talking about supposedly our best players representing our national team and we must therefore compare them to the same individuals in the other internation sides. It's on that basis that I look at the ability (and actual performance) of our selected players, and think are the ones selected really our best ones, and does the opposition look at our players and think " ...k me he's good", "he's going to be a handful", "how can we get him out". Are you suggesting Prior, Bopara, Shah or Bresnan are thought of in the same way as countless opposition players that could be named? Here's hoping we give Davies an extended run (if Priornot selected) and Onions is back in for the injured Broad. |

... and importantly he's been picked as a bowler, but at least he's put us in with a chance (ish) Overall though fernando Wrote: To be fair,Bresnan ain't good enough. he's got a long way to go to convince me he's quality (but like Shah, Bopara, etc if his consistently performs I'll say otherwise) |

I'm surprised he's in the team at all, after his comments in the Daily Mirror. |

Not sure what he's done wrong? Would be happy to see a contest between two wicketkeepers who can bat rather than batsmen who can also keep (going over old ground here I suspect) but would also like to see either of Davies or Mustard opening, to give the innings momentum. Both seem suited to attacking the quicks, rather than middle order/slow bowlers. |
