Selectors are making sure we don't go down the Aussie route of playing the supposed top players at every opportunity, thus giving actual playing experience to the next in line, thus keeping those in the seat constantly on the ball ... competition is healthy, and means those who are boroughtin are ready (Tremlett, Bresnan, etc |

After Day 3 in Melbourne whilst we were queueing to get in to Turf Bar one of the guys who knows Matt got a text from his saying something along the lines of 'Great support again today, brilliant. Get stuck in to Mitchell Johnson again tomorrow, brilliant!' TOP BLOKE! |

He hasn't missed a trick behind the stumps, and to top the series off in Sydney with a ton was just f#@$ing brilliant.... he averaged 50+ for the series with the bat, and in the excitement of the win I can't recall if he ended up beating Knotts record of catches for an Ashes series or not??? But I saw something in Matt Prior in Melbourne that just made me think this was the mongrel element we have been missing for so many years.........It was day three and Ponting had not long been at the crease, we were all giving him some stick from the stands......sacked in the morning, you're getting sacked in the morning. Prior turned around and gave us the gee up.....as if to say, keep this up lads....keep the pressure on him. Matty was probably giving some chirp himself at the time and appreciated some assistance from the legions of fans behind him!!! I thought it was a quality moment and just showed to me the awareness, competitiveness and ruthlessness of the man. The likes of Cook, Trotty and Jimmy etc will take the major accolades from this series, and rightly so......but I've found my own personal new hero of the side.......take a bow Matthew Prior careful now... Deco will get jealous |

Also remembering that his century in Sydney was the fastest English Ashes ton since Botham's in 1981. Get him back in the ODI team pronto. He's a born leader. |

Excellent news Crouchy......Prior is back in the world cup side www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket_worldc ... 97417.html Had to happen. |

Davies is a good player of seam, but in the ODI games last summer he got himself in a tangle against Ajmal and Afridi quite regularly. There will be plenty of games in this tournament where spin is introduced very early so its the right move I think. I also think Trott suffers from this problem so I wouldn't be surprised to see a top six for England come World Cup time of; Strauss Prior Bell Pietersen Collingwood Morgan |
