Wait a minute, this can't be right, we did'nt supply a written itinerary, tickets, hotels or letter from anybody's Mum. Whats the catch, there's got to be something wrong here. We must be subject to some restrictions surely ? Anyone else got one of these ? Are you confident ? How did you get it ? Does it say anything else other than mutiple ? Sorry, its just too good to be true, so I'm worried. What does it say in the 'endorsement' bit? I believe it should refer to your re-entry. I didnt ask for anything special as only doing India and mine is a multiple entry and says 'Stay during each visit not to exceed 180 days' (pretty difficult on a 6 month visa!) |

Says exactly the same as yours Ian. I suppose it can't possibly say much else on a multiple. Particularly when they can't spell the name of their next door neighbour. How did you end up with a multi ? |

Everytime I've ever gone to India I have always got a 6 month Multiple Entry visa. I always thought this was the standard visa... Hazel and Ian put their applications in together and came back with mixed results! I think she posted earlier on in this thread to say as much. They didn't change Ian's, they just said it'll be fine.... I have a strong suspicion that it's all bollo@#s and will be impossible to enforce due to the lack of clarity/consistancy at Indian visa offices worldwide.... at least during the World Cup anyway...after that I'm sure hippies doing Nepali visa runs may have to resort to baksheesh or find alternate methods! |

Mine came back with double entry allowed, with printed writing at the bottom saying re-entry from Sri Lanka permitted. Just like Ian, my last two Indian visas (applied for in the UK) came back as multiple entry despite not requesting / needing anything other than single. Here's hoping to an England game in Colombo - if not, there are worse places to be. |

Got a multiple one "automatically" (despite only doing a single-entry trip) in 2002. Then got the same again in 2005, when I did need 2 entries as was basically flying into and out of Amritsar for my Pakistan trip. I am guessing they are all still technically multiple entry - has anyone actually got one that says "single entry"? Obviously the issue is that a normal multiple entry visa in itself is no longer enough if one wants to return to India after less than 2 months outside India, hence the need for these special endorsements people have been getting. Mine is a simple single-entry trip, so I presume I will end up with a normal multiple entry visa, but will let everyone know how I get on.... |

Both mine and the wife's say "single entry" - which is ok as that's what we applied for. All seems a bit random. |

After much deliberation, I cancelled my train tickets and hotel booking. It turned out to cost next to nothing to do this. I'm now planning to head indirectly to Bangalore from Nagpur, making a short side trip on the way down. I'll hopefully get to see a bit of Calcutta en route to and from Chittagong. The extra couple of days I'll be in Bangalore will give me a chance to track down a couple of Ireland fans I owe a curry to from our last ODI in Belfast. |
