The double entry visa still has the same 60 day bit of wording on it but when I asked the manager of VFS in London she said it didn't count for the double entry. I read elsewhere that it is still valid for double/triple entry BUT you can leave and come back in a shorter period if you travel to neighbouring countries (& Bangladesh and Sri Lanka fall into this). In other visa news, a friend of mine was refused his visa as he works for Rolls Royce who have sites in India. He has travelled to India on business previously and although he was specific about his reasons for going this time he was told that he has to have a letter from his employer stating that he won't be working when he got the rejection! |

Got visas for India back today. Double entry, re-entry from Bangkok. Discovered that Bangla HC in Brum is closed on Monday. Called and they said that if I put the applications in on Tuesday it'll be 5 working days. Flying out on Friday....bugger. Mentioned the cricket. No problem sir, either Wednesday or Thursday at the latest, we'll call you and let you know. How good are they? PS, Don'y try that line at the London HC, too busy, can't be arsed, etc. May Allah bless Mr. Faisal Ahmed and all his staff up in Brum with whatever they ever, ever want. For ever. |

Also, for anyone even more last minute and as useless at this sort of thing than we are... You can get a visa for Bangla on entry. You'll need, forms, pics, passports, itinery (flights in and out confirmed booking), a confirmed hotel booking, a letter from your employer saying that you're not going out there to work and a recent bank statement to show that you have funds whilst there. Oh, and you need to check with your airline that they'll let you on the flight if you have all that but no visa. Some don't, Air India are a bit funny apparently. And not in a good way. Biman, probably fine as they're just happy that people aren't too scared to fly with them. |

Flew wiv Biman, dhaka-chitters lst tour. Took ages 2 get a ticket @ dhaka airport, bloke behind , v small, window kept sayin no tickets, sold out. Eventually local guy helpd me out. Had to sling bloke a few taka but ended up savin 1,500 on the official price! Got on plane (every airline joke is true about biman, outside bogs, stoppin 2 take on more wood, etc) which i didn't think'd make to the end of runway, and took off. Only 5 other ppl on board & 2 stewards. 5 mins l8r steward comes up & asks if i want a meal, i say yes. Cupla mins he's back wiv the smallest carton of orange juice u've ever seen and a boiled sweet, on a fvckin tray! He put down my table, placed the tray on it & sed 'enjoy'. Just b4 we landed he came back asked if i'd finishd, took the tray & folded up my table, nodded & left. I was pissin meself! |

Our first two flights with Biman were fine. First one from Dhaka to Chittagong we got a lighter from a guy airside for a quick smoke, when the bus came to take us to the plane the same guy turned up with a car, "You VIP's" he said and drove us to the plane. Going back it was reassuring to find Nasser and Bumble on the same plane. The third one however to Bangkok was less good. Six hours late and there was nearly a riot. Probably not helped by me having the Biman control room number and giving it to the locals for them to call. Each time I called they would say "Maybe thirty minutes, inshallah". Still, it did get here. |
