The ECB have really excelled this season. They seem to have screwed up pretty much on every front and it's all about greed and money without any consideration for the fans which actually go and support live cricket. The last final at Lord's used to be a big day out with capacity crowds with allocations to the respective finalists selling out but they've managed to devalue that year-by-year and have pissed on the supporters yet again. "I for one like Clarke and I for one am glad he's head of the ECB." I still can't believe that comment, it must have been a wind-up. Aaaaarrrrrggghhhhhh!!!! |

Absoutely crazy decision by the ECB to stage the final as a day-nighter!! This decision has not given any consideration to the fans, not to mention the effect it will have on the game itself which should be one of the season's showpieces. I'm glad the Somerset management have had their say and criticised the ECB, not that it will make any difference!! Giles Clarke was at Taunton on Saturday, can't say he was the most popular person there?! I know a lot of people who would have liked to have gone put were put off due to the travel problems. We've managed to book a coach from Taunton (£14) but even then we have to get to Taunton for 8am and we live around 30 or so miles away and. It's going to be a very long day methinks, I was really looking forward to the final but this has taken the edge off it. Come on ECB start thinking of the cricket fans!!! |

The MCC wanted to have a day nighter at Lords, and the ECB went along with it... if Sky show empty seats in the crowd, I wouldn't be surprised if they start slating the schedule. |

Burnhope Wrote: What's wrong with a day nighter? Im sure theres nothing wrong with it if, like yourself, you are coming from Oxford (or more than likely sitting at home to watch it). But try getting back to Minehead when the game finishes at near 10pm. Or throw in some London accommodation and you have the first ever £200 county game. Maybe even consider the purity of the competition, which will be farcical with the levels of dew one can expect in the evening in late September affecting the second innings. Or even just the fact it is likely to be bloody freezing by then - evenings in late September are rarely the stuff of t-shirts and cold beers. But I do look forward to another spirited defence of Giles Clarke from your camp.... |

I suspect he was talking from a personal perspective here, sat at home in Oxford, with a nice warm cuppa tea watching on the box |

I didn't mean put you down or anything, for anyone not planning on going to a game, opting to stay at home and watch on tv, day/night Spetember games make good viewing. Crack open a few cans of Tennents Super, a bottle of Blue Nun or even a cuppa tea (that's nothing to do with a certain tie from the 1970's Kev As for all the reasons, I think they're pretty much covered in the article that the link was to!! http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/se ... ords-final |
