Thanks for pointing that out to those os us who have availed of that offer, and for seeming so delighted about it.

Perhaps they don't deserve the free advertising, but for anyone who fancies going tomorrow (Day 4):

"Tickets on the gates tomorrow will be priced at £20 for adults and free for Under 16s.

Anyone who has purchased a full priced ticket for tomorrow's play will be offered either a free ticket for day 1 of the npower Test match next summer against India or the chance to bring 2 guests free tomorrow morning.

Play starts at 11am with gates opening at 9am for spectators. Book online at www.edgbaston.com and use the 'Ticket Fast' option to print your ticket at home to save queuing in morning."

It's a shame it's taken swathes of empty seats for reality to set in. Unfortunately they might find that it's easier to drive fans away from the game than it is to bring them back.

Somehow I don't think that is going to be a problem

For your information pete. h i was there sat and sun and paid £60 for each days play. So why you find you have to be abusive im not really sure, the smiley faces where for the fact that england are once again showing some great form (Cook not inc) and will be able to take this momentum into the Ashes series.

Sorry for my misunderstanding then.

You previously argued that £60 was a fair price for a days play and then posted this which, in light of the excessive smileys, seemed to be rather a gloat that those of us trying to avail of cheaper tickets had ultimately failed and ended up paying full price anyway. Your post in no way gives a hint that you are happy about the performance, as you talk about exclusively about the ticket deal... so in light of my lack of psychic powers you left yourself rather open to misinterpretation.

Anyhow, even with the deals on offer the crowd for a weekend day 3 of a test was appalling. Edgbaston need to sort their pricing out, and quickly, otherwise their shiny new stand will not see too much use.

Incidentally I wasn't exactly abusive... just wrote a one word reply which on reflection seemed a touch facetious, and so I self-edited to provide something more of an explanation of why the post annoyed me.

Just in case you felt I had unleashed a torrent of abuse that the mods had to deal with... nothing so dramatic.

Anyhow... moving on (lighter of wallet)...

ok pete no worries. just to clear up my feelings on ticket prices i do feel that £60 is a fair price however after visiting edgbaston for the first time and seeing the lack of crowds they do need to revaluate their pricing structure especially when half of it is under construction. I personally cant believe they held an international test match there. i live near london and am used to paying apx £60 for tickets at the Oval but then i think its a good ground and worth the money.

Two friends joined us on sunday and paid £25 a ticket for for there two days so I am pissed off as much as you and wont be rushing back there.

Cool, lets call it a misunderstanding and be done with it! :)

"I personally cant believe they held an international test match there"

Nor I to be honest. Whilst I understand Warwickshire's desire to keep revenue streams up during the rebuild, one has to wonder what exactly goes into this "competitive bidding process" the ECB have in place if having only 2/3 of a ground is not sufficient to stop you getting to host a test match and two 20/20 games!

This further suggests that the entire "process" is to do with squeezing the test grounds, and hence us, for a much cash as possible!
