If we are supposed to be picking in-form players can anyone explain to me why someone whose technique is all over the shop and a sledging accident waiting to happen is opening ? Strauss and Trott to open. It's as simple as that. 3. Pietersen 4. Bell 5. Morgan 5. Prior 6. Collingwood 7. Swann 8. Broad 9. Finn 10. Tremlett 11. Anderson If Cook proves me wrong I'll eat one of my Barmy Army shirts - specifically the itchy cheap man-made fibre one I kicked up a fuss about a while back. If we can get away with playing 12 players we might as well go the whole hog & play Cook aswell..... |

Well spotted squire.
Heh,heh, heh ...I hope the Aussies don't spot the flaw in my cunning plan !
So who would we leave out of those 12?? For me it's got to be Morgan as Bell is/should be well in front for selection. But you know even with the 7 batsmen you've named, it still looks light on in the batting for mine. I'm definitely with you on the need for 5 bowlers (although I'm convinced it's not going to happen) but I think the only way we can do it without sacrificing the batting is to play Bresnan as the 5th bowling option. As someone else said in another thread, the days of Jimmy batting at 8 are long gone. |
