If someone like Bell or Collingwood was displaying this kind of form they would be straight out of the team! I think the selectors are just afraid to make changes to the opening partnership, perhaps in the absence of any proven alternatives, and a reluctance to promote Trott to the top of the order. Personally I'd give Carberry a go for the last 2 tests against Pakistan, and even if he fails miserably then we can promote Trott to open and have Pietersen at 3 for the Ashes. Won't happen though, and no doubt Cook will get a scratchy 100 at the Oval and secure his place for another 12 months. Agree with all of the above, but he won't get a scratchy ton. He'll get out before that and no doubt continue to be picked. Cook OUT! Hmmmmm..... |

Sorry Crouchy, not picking on you me old mukka, just that it's too irresistable not to point out that you were WRONG! Oh happy days. nananananananana Ali Ali Cook Ali Cook Ali Ali Cook..... Not saying he is now the best batsman in the world or anything. But surely there was never any doubt that he should at least be given The Oval and Lords to get runs. And there was never any doubt in my mind that he should also start in Brisbane. Bring along another opener to Oz by all means as competition, but to say Cook should have been dropped now was far too premature. All just my opinion mind.... |

Well done Mr Cook on a gritty 110. A great effort under pressure to bring us back into the game, and well supported by Top Trotty. Now for a score from Pietersen and everyones happy |

Strauss had an excellent average against the Convicts last summer. Cook's was poor. What about his 100 in Durban or don't South Africa count |

Interesting how such a technically flawed out of form player picked up a ton when all these in form players with a tight technique don't look like they are going to make 110 between them! |

Against the backdrop of the rest of England's batting it's got to be said his effort was truly outstanding and he has earned his plaudits today. |
