Don't understand your comment about Bond. Players are removed from the list once they retire, so in the current ratings ( http://www.reliancemobileiccrankings.com/ ) Mohammad Asif is No 3 ranked bowler. Bond is nowhere to be seen.

I'm not sure how they work it.......Has Nitini officially retired or is he just not getting picked anymore??? Because according to the ICC he is the 10th best bowler in the world right now!!!. Stuart Clark stayed in the top 10 for ages too although his name has now been removed.

I think maybe the calculations take into account too long a period?? When you look through the list there is some very strange names that shouldn't be there........Monty Panesar and Harmy in the top 40????

There are only nine test nations currently so to list the 100 best bowlers seems a little daft as technically you can only have 99 players to fill all nine sides.

Obviously teams change etc but still.

Not dropped as such, quite a lot of county players play some club cricket when deemed appropriate.

In this instance, I remember reading that he signed for Bexhill because he wanted to play for a club which would let him bat in the top 3! This is typical of a man who works tirelessly even at the parts of his game where he is notoriously weak.

Meanwhile his bowling is little-by-little starting to look really good again at last. He's started winning matches for Sussex now, and I have no doubt whatsoever that he will prove to be an excellent signing for them. He is already a very strong candidate for a place on the plane to Australia as our second spinner, and whether he's selected or not, I'm sure it won't be long before he's back in his rightful place as part of the England set-up once again.

I know there were lots of people who stopped believing in him when he lost his form, but I was not one of them.

Me neither Harv. I have always maintained, and will continue to do so, that we will see the second coming of Monty. Perhaps it will be in the upcoming Ashes bowling in tandem with Swanny!!! Now that I would love to see. Missed high fives while running around and jumping up and down like a madman anyone...... :D

Never had too much of a problem with Montys bowling ( see his test Stats ) but unless his fielding and batting have shown a massive improvement I cannot see him taking the flight .As an overall cricketer I would still place Rashid ahead of him even though it appears that Andy Flowers has some issue about him

Without wishing to re-open any wounds, I was surprised to read today that Duncan Fletcher advocates putting Morgan into the Brisbane XI at the cost of Cook - http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2010/sep/24/eoin-morgan-ashes-duncan-fletcher. He's always been a big Cook fan.

"For me it is critical that England find a way to get Morgan into the team - not just the squad - for the first Test. He should bat at No6."

"That is assuming that England stick with their four-man attack. I still doubt that this is the right approach to take, although playing a fifth bowler would probably mean that Morgan would miss out on selection, with Prior moving up to No6."

So they MUST get Morgan into the side. But they should play five bowlers meaning Morgan misses out.

Also a strange comment about the team being injury free, I hadn't realised the first test was tomorrow.

Crystal clear Mr Fletcher.

Cook will be a disaster down under.

If we are supposed to be picking in-form players can anyone explain to me why someone whose technique is all over the shop and a sledging accident waiting to happen is opening ?

Strauss and Trott to open. It's as simple as that.

3. Pietersen
4. Bell
5. Morgan
5. Prior
6. Collingwood
7. Swann
8. Broad
9. Finn
10. Tremlett
11. Anderson

If Cook proves me wrong I'll eat one of my Barmy Army shirts - specifically the itchy cheap man-made fibre one I kicked up a fuss about a while back.
