what a come back this afternoon, looked over for england by lunch, but apart from trotts knock ive witnessed a perfect innings from broad,as a number 9 batsman he is very impressive with the bat as well as bowling. id even go close and say he could be the new flintoff, i know most people will say it was only pakistan but the lads done well at the end of the day a 100 is 100 and its nice for him to get his first at lords and get his name on the board..... |

Jeez this forum seems very snitchy of late..........do we need to bring back wombat and Aussie Dave so we are not niggling amongst ourselves Spursmark only said "id even go close and say he could be the new flintoff"...........hardly cause for ridicule, he didn't say he was there yet, but the potential is and I agree with him. Personally I never rated Fred's batting that highly and for most of his career it was a stretch calling him a genuine allrounder..........I'm sure someone will correct me but off the top of my head I can't remember Flintoff batting us back into a game that we were totally shagged in like Broad did yesterday. Broads bowling has improved greatly in the last 12 or so months but I'd kinda given up on his batting, and thought of him as not much more than a useful tailender.......this one single innings has show he is a lot more than that to me. No one is saying he is as good in either skill yet but If he continues to grow as a bowler and can work at his batting.......why the hell can't he be the new Flintoff??? (We all loved the bloke but when we are honest, he wasn't that great!!!) |

great knock well done as to the flinttof why not imo he is a track and could be better than flinttof if he stays fit and keeps his mouth shut just out of interst has flinttof ever made a big score when england were in deep trouble like yesterday |

England 1-0 down in the Ashes and two great knocks plus some vital wickets too. Fantastic effort from Stuart yesterday so why cloud it with the comparisons? |

Great knock by Broad who actually started out as a batsman who could bowl a bit. But his innings overshadows Trott's which was far more important for the long term - imagine if we'd gone to Australia having suffered two embarrassing defeats in a row to Pakistan ( tempting fate here I know. ) I'm really looking forward to Trott annoying the hell out of the convicts with his obduracy and sheer bloody-mindedness. Did anyone see him still marking out his wicket even after stumps were called last night. Brilliantly obsessive. |
