Their reply is doubtless ...errrr.... pending.  |

Just seen the message I'm pasting below on another forum. The bit about the ETA not functioning until December 15 may explain why so many of us are "pending." ******* I received a letter this week from Mercury Direct travel company who I have booked our trip with.It states that passengers who are travelling between 01/01/12 - 31/3/12 have a possiblity of obtaining a their visa free of charge provided they do the following. forward the following details before 31/12/11. Full passenger names{ as per passport] Passport No Nationality D.O.B You email all the above info to contvisa@immigration.gov.lk You must also print a copy of the email and take it with you. Or you can fill the same details online WWW.eta.gov.lk. The online site will not be operational until 15/12/11. If you do not do either before 31/12/11 you will have to obtain a visa when you arrive by paying a fee of $25 per person. |

What a polava! After reading all this, I've decided no harm in applying as it's not asking for a payment at the moment. As with the others also, I have just got the standard receipt email with a reference number. Suppose if I save $20, that's a bit more spending when I'm there. Guess we'll all have to see the situation come the new year. |

Right, I have had an email saying that my ETA has been approved. However, it says 'Validity of ETA: 13/03/2012' which I guess means that it expires on that date.......which means I will have to reapply as I dont travel until 23rd March. Never easy is it ? |

I sent application last week. I am unsure if 'validity'means that is the date which it is valid from or valid until ? I have sent an email to the 'controller' who is the contact email address. Every time I travel to the sub continent I get this bollox with visas ! Apparently, you can still get ETA at the airport if I am reading the website properly.Dont quote me on that though ! |

just checked my 'status' & it says 'in principle approved'.....WTF! |

Yeah ,mine says that. What have they put for your validity of ETA date ? |

Have had exactly the same, a bit confusing really as I'm arriving on the 22nd (the day before you). I'll also ask the question on whether this is valid or not. If not, then maybe re apply after 22nd Dec? Can you keep us informed if you get a reply? I will do likewise. |
