The Abu Dhabi Golf championship, part of the European Tour, takes place between 26 Jan - 29 Jan 2012, overlapping the cricket. The course isn't far from the cricket ground as it would happen. There will be some big names on the course. Tickets are approx. £9. Free for juniors 18 and under. Anyone planning to take a day off from the cricket? |

I've been eyeing up these packages: http://auction.starwoodhotels.com/cgi-b ... r=67280009 If you dont have points, can probably buy/trade them for c.£80 so at £40 each (2 passes) it might not be a bad do. I reckon I could sup forty squids worth at their prices rather easily. |

Yeah there's four of us. I'm not particulary interested in Golf, but the others are. It'll make a break from the Test, which I assume will last for most of the five days, being a flat wicket. If you look at the Golf course on Google Earth, it's just above the Cricket Stadium, although there appears to be a bit of desert in betwen |

Practice day the day before the test starts for me, I reckon. |

I have got an option on two complimentary tickets for each day. Waiting to see if it includes the practice day/s. I have to be there to show my card @ the entrance, but if anyone fancies a day (although my priority is the cricket), or even a few hours after the cricket, just let me know. It says the following Access to 17th Skybox which this year will have free champagne, wine and beer (wristband / vouchers provided for 17th and Lola) Free non-alcoholic drinks at Lola Free stool + tournament programme Erik (the guy with the swan {remember, Swann, Swann will tear you apart again} in Oz) |

Apparently if you show an HSBC bank card at the gate you will be allowed in free of charge. Also if you wear a red shirt on Friday you can get in free. I'm not too sure when the first players tee off on days 1&2 but I'd guess you can see about 3 hours of golf before heading to the cricket. The field includes, McIlroy, Westwood, Donald, Clarke and Woods. One other recommendation for anyone in Abu Dhabi is to take a visit to the Sheik Zayed Mosque, it's the second largest in the world (after the one in Saudi) and it's not far short of being as spectacular as the Taj Mahal. There's no entrance fee and it's certainly got the wow factor. |

If you are an HSBC customer you will get in for free on any day if you show your card. The Mosque is definately worth a trip. Pearls bar where there is an after party mentioned on here has great views. Sky Blue Sam |

Went to the golf today and it was a decent do. Beautiful grounds and plenty of F&B options at The Village. |

Plenty of supporters at the golf today. Even some of the players turned up too. Though I'd have thought the nets would have been a more appropriate way to spend what would have been day 5. |
