Well one Pakistan, they played some good cricket and have a great attack on these pitches. What about England though? Once again we lose in the sub continent... All the batsman look suspect apart from Trott and possibly Cook against spin on this surface. The bowlers plus prior have played well and have in some cases shown the batsman how to score a few against spin.. Not easy to know what to do as KP and morgan in particular look clueless - straus does not look too clever either on this surface and should have been given out earlier but at least managed 30 despite looking uncomfortable. None of this is new of course ... It has just becomes more noticeable since we have doing so well on pitches that favour our game and a collapse and a heavy defeat becomes a shock to many. So what can we do to win on a different continent? I think its very difficult as india are finding on their recent tours to england and Oz.. I would bring in Ravi for Morgan and swap strauss and trott in the order in the hope that cook and trott can give us a good solid start which Strauss and others can build upon. I dont know what else to suggest the bowlers have been excellent. I hope we learn from this tour and put up a better show in sri lanka and india... Anyone else got any ideas ahead of Dubai? |

Think its more about preparation and application, in these first two tests, that have let ECB down. Long term, for the balance of the side and the selection of four, only, outright bowlers, we need a no. 6 who can do more than just bat. Not thinking of Ravi here though ... someone who can genuinely do a couple of jobs. No-one in the squad fits this bill for me, so no changes for the third test to this team used in the 2nd, sadly. |

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Bopara has made a hugely compelling case, but surely he's a better option than Morgan at the moment? Leave aside Bopara's bowling (which might only be used ocassionally anyway),Morgan just doesn't loook like scoring test runs. Failing to leave him out when he's playing this poorly just opens accusations of it being a cosy club again surely? |

got to be a chance he's dropped now. I thought i read somewhere that he's supposed to be one of the better players of spin in the squad. And i've always had him down as one of those "man for the moment" type players who when the chips are down he will not falter or let pressure get to him. Well it hasn't been the case on this tour to date alas. |

Well Morgan failed again.... Actually that is a tad harsh as so did cook, bell and trott... Thought KP, Bell (out by smallest of margins) and obviously Trott were unlucky.. Cooks shot was poor and Prior looked pretty nervous... I would have let Ravi have a go in place of morgan but not surprised that we left things as they were... Congratulations, once again, to the bowlers quality performance!!! |
