Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has heard any rumours about the tour schedule.

Really need to know as soon as possible if the test itinerary will be at the begininning or end of the tour.

I can only get leave in March so if the test series is played first in February, I will struggle to make it.

Many thanks

Mark, You may have to wait a little while yet before the New Zealand Tour Itinerary is available.

This years New Zealand summer series against South Africa was announced on June 24th 2011.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10734286

You would of had to wait until September 7th 2009, for the 2010 New Zealand summer series to be disclosed
http://nz.sports.yahoo.com/cricket/news/article/-/5939997/black-caps-summer-schedule-confirmed/

The last time England played down there in 2008, we learnt our fate on July 3rd 2007.

As for your second question, when a New Zealand tour goes into March, the ODI'S are always first. This is due to the Rugby 15's starting at the end of February, Two of their ODI venues (3 if you include the currently damaged Christchurch) are the home grounds of Rugby 15's teams.
For this same reason, I suspect the only confirmed Test venue so far, Eden Park Auckland, will be the venue for the First Test.

Don't get booking any flights until you see the confirmed schedule.

Bottom line is nobody knows the venues, nobody knows the exact dates and nobody knows whether it is tests or ODI's first.

You'll just have to join the queue of people patiently waiting for the info so we can all rush to book flights and hotels before the prices go up.

Auckland Test.

http://auckland.scoop.co.nz/2012/03/tes ... next-year/

It has also been reported in other NZ newspapers, some of the links to those reports are on other threads in this NZ section of the forum.

Also, Auckland cricket have been broadcasting the fact they have been awarded an England test, to encourage old members to renew for 2013, and potential new members to join.

Unfortunately the word queue is a correct analogy of how tour information is released.
I learnt this when I worked for a sports travel company for a short period in the early 90's.

The tour dates are leaked to the upmarket tour groups a couple of days before the official announcement, this is especially true for those tour groups that use ex cricketers as their tour courier/hosts.

This allows these tour groups to book beds in hotels, (although the type of hotels these travel groups use, would not affect many who frequent these pages.)

But, the big problem is, they have a star number with the airlines, which allows them to close off seats in the dozens, this in turn, as many of the regulars will tell you, creates an automated price increase in the fares.

It's a despicable practice, but I guess their ain't much we can do about it.

This is not just for New Zealand tests. It happens all the time, and particularly for the popular ones ; Barbados being another good example.
And for lions tours, the independent traveller doesn't stand a chance.
Oh, and I hope the Auckland test date, in your article, scheduled for May was a typo.

Hi All,

I am living over here in NZ and have a good contact who was/is high up in Black Caps. He has informed me a few months back that the tet are 99% auckland wellington and Dunedin. Even with the recent issues over the museum stand at the basin he believes that the test will stay there as that stand only holds 1,000~.

As mentioned previously the tests are almost always after the ODI and T20 here so you can back the option of March. The dates were pencilled in to be announced this week but there has been a delay. I shall keep trying to fins out th edtes before the announcment to try and cut out the price hikes already discussed.
