First of all, welcome to the forum.

If you're interested in an an organised Barmy Army tour, then you can find details here:

http://thomsonsport.com/event/england-tour-new-zealand

If you plan to travel independently, then there will be plenty of help and advice available on here as to how to go about it from those who have been before. Before starting a new thread though, do try and read through previous posts to see whether your question has already been answered. This will avoid lots of repeat threads.

Something else we would request is that when asking for accommodation recommendations, please give some idea of whether you want budget, mid-range or luxury. Lots of people in the past have come on here asking whether anyone can recommend a "good hotel." Some people will be looking to pay as little as possible, while for others the sky is the limit, so one man's good hotel can be another man's nightmare!

For those fed up with cricket grounds being turned into characterless concrete bowls, New Zealand is a breath of fresh air. Many regulars rate New Zealand as their favourite tour on the circuit.

You didn't cause offence last time. We just don't want to be inundated with people pushing their businesses in multiple threads. We have people coming on here from time to time discreetly mentioning their hostels, restaurants, bars, etc., and we have no problem with that as long as it doesn't become a constant theme.

Do make it clear that you're not connected with Barmy Army Travel though, and expect a certain amount of scepticism, since a lot of people here were left out of pocket by the STI fiasco. For that reason if you want to be taken seriously, mentioning an Atol or ABTA membership number (which can easily be checked by anyone thinking of using your services) would help your cause.

Be mindful of the fact that the purpose of these forums is the discussion of matters related to cricket, touring, Barmy Army products, and the exchange of impartial travel advice. The purpose is not to be a free source of advertising.

Hey Harvey
just in case I might be "plugging my wares" (and now I know where to get metal work done in the South West) would it be in order for me to open a new topic ? and possibly even email thomson holidays ? something along the lines of.....

TROUT fishing. Im a Brit who, as well as loving cricket, also teaches/organises fishing here in the UK (April to Nov) and gets the best of both worlds by taking people fishing in NZ each Dec-Mar - their summer our Winter. So if anyone wants to go fishing in the SOUTH ISLAND in Jan, Feb or early March (Note I will be at the Dunedin Test Match myself) they should contact me. I can advise about the best rivers and the best guides, equipment, and (suitable) accommodation and even travel around NZ. If you want posh places to stay there are superb "lodges" and at the other extreme you can go camping. The trout fishing, on the other hand, is second to none. Fantastic. Superb. Forget about salmon there, its not nearly as good as Scotlands but the trout are huge, wild, and exhilarating. See www.TROUTinNZ.com or email me at AS@RealFarms.co.uk

Do you mind? Can I have your permission to open a new topic?

Sure.

As for e-mailing Thomson Holidays, I wouldn't know what chance you'd have of getting anywhere with them, but you don't know unless you try!
