Will be doing the Auckland test in March. (First time to NZ). Would have liked to do the others but dont have the time or money. Just wondering what your views are of the stadium ? Doesnt look as nice as some of the others ie Christhurch !

I will have a couple of days free in Auckland both before and after the test...to those who have gone...what would you say are the best tours to do around the area? Is there a standout trip that I should do whilst there? Heard the Tamaki drive and Waitakere ranges are good ones.

Any help much appreciated !

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Swansea,

You are correct, Eden park is one of the less attractive venues here.
As for things to do in the local area I would highly recommend a day trip to Waiheke island, if you like a tipple of the grape juice there are some great wineries over there and the island is beautiful. You can get a ferry across from the city centre then either hire scooters a car or look up on of the wine tours. Fullers ferries would be the one you will use to get there.
Tamaki Drive is a nice walk, about 10km from city to far side of St Helliers, there are marinas on the way to admire the rich boy boats, good coffee shops, a good fish and chip spot plus plenty of bars. You would go past Kelly Tarltons, an aquarium. Four harbour beaches.
Waitaks are good for walking not too many other sites out there but it is a beautiful spot, would say Waiheke over Waitaks though.
