"I did the bus trip the other way earlier this year and the scenery was good, It would be better on the train but as you say cost vs need 100% head to Milford sound the drive there is amazing and plenty of places to stop like the mirror lakes. Would recommend a trip to Invercargil personally but if you have time to spare I would say an over night trip t Fox glacier or Franz Joseph would be a better use of time." Thanks for the advice!
