I know that the vast majority of the Barmy Army will not be coming to NZ until the full test series starts. However as an expat living here in Whangarei, I'm very much looking forward to seeing England play here..although disappointed that KP and Jimmy Anderson won't be involved. I'm intending to catch the test match in Auckland, and a couple of days in Wellington. Last tour I got to see some of the tests played in Hamilton and Napier-wonderful memories of Ryan Sidebottom scything through an NZ innings which had seemed in serene control at lunch time..!

I'm just wondering whether there are any early travellers, or indeed fellow ex-pats who will be at the games here in Whangarei? We know that comedian Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek) will be here as he has planned a live sell-out concert here the night before the first of the two games. The venue at Cobham Oval is a neat little ground, although with very little shade! For visitors, Whangarei is handily placed if you want to take in a visit to the beautiful Bay of Islands, just one hour further north.
Enjoy the tour-I can't wait to hear the army in full voice again!
