Doing North and South islands, but still can't decide what the weather is going to be like. Do I need flip flops and the factor 30 sun screen, or should I pack a second wooly jumper. The only forecast I can find says that the south island is warmer than the north. Can that be correct? |

I'm packing for all eventualities. My understanding is their weather is as unpredictable as ours. Typically The South Island is cooler though it's not unheard of for Dunedin to be warmer than Auckland on any given day in a similar way that Glasgow can have nicer weather than London!! |

Wellington will be windy as hell, Dunedin is usually good weather in the day but temp does fall at night and then auckland is like a day in Bournemouth! Wind rain and sun, if you swap stands you will probably have different weather! Shorts and T shirts usualy good, but bring a little wind jacket (and or a beer jacket) |

Embarassingly, after 45 years of drinking I have no idea what a 'beer jacket' is. |

For 6 months of the year you can burn even if it's cloudy. |
