Looking at Google Maps, the venue for the Dunedin game is a short walk from our digs I will take this opportunity to apologise in advance for what could be a messy day..... brewery tour, followed by cheering on the BA (from the bar), followed by an evening at the terrace |

I rather think WE may have to do a little apologising at some stage of the proceedings, if normal service applies. Oh well lifes rich tapestry and all that. Rob I am more than happy to partake in the proceedings, either at square leg or preferably sledging the bowlers in their delivery stride. I believe I am a quite untypical umpire in most eyes. 5 days and counting, although I can't say I'm looking forward to two days without sleep. |

Truth is people are spoiled these days. I worked in Hong Kong about 25 years ago and we use to fly B.Cal via Bahrain (I think). The little white screen use to come down from the roof of the plane and the projector showed 1 film on the first leg and a second one on the second leg (and that was all the entertainment you got). Funny thing is that the flight to HK cost about £550 25 years ago, which is probably what it still costs today. |

Funnily enough we were saying the same thing at work today (no idea how long haul flying came up in conversation!). Although I don't go back as far as you I do remember the days of one film on one screen for the entire flight. These days with 30 odd films to chose from god knows how much music and the option of taking portable DVD players, laptops, tablets and iPods etc on board it's a whole lot easier!!! |
