For those travelling up through Rotorua on the way from Wellington to Auckland, we've just spent the last couple of days here in Rotorua.

I can recommend the Brew bar for a locally brewed beer and Lime Cafeteria for a coffee.

We haven't had the nerve to visit Clarke's bar, but feel with a name like that it's asking for a barmy invasion.

If you're not in to jumping out of pink planes and want to see some bubbling mud and coloured lakes try Wai-o-tapu 20 minutes down the road to Taupo.

See you all in Wellington.

I can also recommend a place on the Rotorua - Taupo road. It is call kerosene creak. The best option is to google it and then print the map. Sometimes there is a sign but the local Maori often pull it down.
It is a natural thermal river with rapids you can sit in and a 1 metre waterfall. The busiest I have seen it was 8 other people but more often than not no one else there. One of the last remaining free beautiful places.

Other option is Rotorua (Roto-vegas) give the luge a go after riding the gondola up, always fun, other option is the Polynesian spa, one of the top 10 in the world.
