Pretty sure that when we sent the crims out that way we only sent the thick ones. How else would you explain the lack of IQ out there. NZ seems fine though, must have sent the bright ones there! |

Lofthouse Wrote: Big Harvey Wrote: Lofthouse Wrote: Big Harvey Wrote: First of all, That's why the Australian tourist industry is struggling, because it is no longer seen as a value for money destination. Regarding getting bathed in beer, I take it you're referring to the stuff that gets thrown in the air at The MCG along with assorted rubbish and cups of urine during Mexican waves? That's assuming there are enough people in the ground to have a Mexican wave and that the Sri Lankans who outnumber your fans by approximately 10 to 1 when SL are the opposition feel like joining in. I see you lot are getting back to your normal level at Cricket !!!! even India have just given you showers a hell of a belting,...ROLL ON THE ASHES. Yes,indeed. |

Anybody on their own and would like company are welcome to join myself and Luton Bob for at least Brisbane and Sydney. We are old timers, think New Tricks and tend to maybe have a few beers and head off to our locals or even home for a curry and a few wines. Once you get your bearing or meet new friends you're welcome to do your own thing. We will be over in the summer for at least the Durham Test if interested in a beer and chat. Any other help, feel free to contact me. |

Its been years since I posted on this site and judging by the hassle to log in it may be years before I do again. Some things don't change though, the usual numbskull from Australia hogging the forum pre Ashes aka Lofthouse (an insult to the name of a great man). Now Lofthouse, I live in Brisbane so have 1st hand experience of life here. Yes, as the stickers on Utes say "If you don't Love it, leave". I don't love it, and am leaving. Australia is one of the most expensive countries I have been in and that is many. The dreadful beer they sell here is, for less than a pint, is about 3.50 quid, a boutique beer brewed here is from 5 quid for the same and I am aware that other cities are more expensive. I have paid to my dismay $13 for a pint of Guinness (brewed here) in Perth, say 8 quid. The people here are so programmed from birth about how everything is "best in the world" that they know no different. What to expect if you haven't been here before. Well nothing has changed since my 1st Ashes in 94 I think. In the ground there will be groups of morons in the same old fancy dress with the same old very limited chants with the same old lack of humor trying to give the same old insults that are pathetic with the same old 6 beers and pissed with the same old pommies take it up the rrrr's with the same old heroes being thrown out with the same old supporters who only every do one day of a Test with the same old beach ball throwing with the same old chant of Wan**ker when a grounds man takes the beach ball from the pitch with the same old throwing of chicken legs and plastic beer cups and the same old "were gonna kick your rrrrs". Oh and of course relentless Mexican Waves started by the same old tosser who will spend all the day doing the same and live off the fame for the next year. Expect to be asked if you are from England if you are wearing anything stating you are English. repeat for 5 tests. Here is a Story. A gentleman and good friend of many of us Peado who some will remember, came to Australia several times. I love it here he says after a two week jolly. At one Ashes series, me Peado, Luton Bob, Big Harvey and my b-I-law decided to head out of town to my place via a seaside place called Manly in Brisbane. We stopped for a beer in, of course, The Manly Hotel. As gentle Peado was leaving the pub a local said "fu*k off, we hate pommies here" Honest for my life. We arrived at a local pub about 9pm. Peado asked for the menu and a lovely young lady gave him a menu an stood by. He ordered a meal and she said sorry, we are closed for food. He's never been since. Everything is "Best in the World", even when something is bad here, they have a mania of being the best at being bad... Around holiday times Easter for example, they have a league to compare which State has the least or most road deaths!! The only honest person here is Dame Edna, he tells it as it is. Do it, if only once as many do. Harry |
