Here is a Story. A gentleman and good friend of many of us Peado who some will remember, came to Australia several times. I love it here he says after a two week jolly.
At one Ashes series, me Peado, Luton Bob, Big Harvey and my b-I-law decided to head out of town to my place via a seaside place called Manly in Brisbane. We stopped for a beer in, of course, The Manly Hotel. As gentle Peado was leaving the pub a local said "fu*k off, we hate pommies here" Honest for my life.

We arrived at a local pub about 9pm. Peado asked for the menu and a lovely young lady gave him a menu an stood by. He ordered a meal and she said sorry, we are closed for food. He's never been since.

Love to join you and Bob for a beer & catch up! Will be at Melbourne, and likely to be at either Sydney or Brisbane...

Cheers

Oh we are first timers travelling with a 15 year old son!! we are flying Singapore Airlines, and I have booked hotels independently in Melbourne and Sydney. We are undecided on whether to fly between the 2 cities or to drive the ocean road over 3 days??? as anybody got any tips on doing this?? Regarding tickets I really don't know were to start with these so any advice will be greatly appreciated. :D

I drove the Great Ocean Road last time out and would thoroughly recommend it, the stretch around the Twelve Apostles is well worth your time and you should do it fairly comfortably in 3 days, unless you mean 3 days Melbourne - Sydney? I think that would be a bit of a rush personally, you wouldn't get to stop off very much and there's plenty to see.

Hi Nutkins. I have driven great Ocean Road a few times and it is a trip not to miss as the scenery is fabulous. You can easily do in 3 days but as previously mentioned extra time would be well worth it. The 12 Apostles are down to 7 at last count washed away by time and storms but certainly worth looking at.

Hey, I'm a backpacker, currently working just outside Sydney to fund 3 months of travelling beginning with the Melbourne and Sydney tests! Myself and two other friends from back home are hiring a campervan as of 24th December. Obviously this means we'll have it during both tests, just wondering whether anyone knows of anywhere we could park the van probably just outside both cities, preferably very cheaply or even for free, so that we can catch a train/bus/tram to the grounds each day and back again in the evenings. Parking in the cities, like everything else over here is very expensive especially over 8-10 days! Any help would be much appreciated, looking forward to meeting some of you, selfishly hoping the series isn't over by the time we catch up with it!
