Thursday 21 - 25 November 2013 Australia v England Gabba
Thursday 5 - 9 December 2013 Australia v England Adelaide Oval
Friday 13 - 17 December 2013 Australia v England WACA Ground
Thursday 26 - 30 December 2013 Australia v England MCG
Friday 3 - 7 January 2014 Australia v England SCG

Tour matches
31 October - 2 November WA XI v England WACA Ground
6 - 9 November Australia A v England Hobart
13 - 16 November NSW XI v England SCG
29 - 30 November Chairman's XI v England Manuka Oval, Canberra

 If they started 28 Nov, then 2nd test would be Friday 6 December - having the two back to back. Which would mean the WACA would be Thurs 20 Dec, finishing on Christmas Eve and not enough rest for the boxing day test. I suppose they could have done the first two back to back, ie Gabba = 21 Nov, then Adelaide Friday 29 Nov, Then that would leave four weeks with only one test. They tend to not have big gaps both sides of a test, or at least not in a long long time. The fact they will start the 4th test on Boxing Day regardless of what day of the week it is makes the scheduling a little unusual.

In 2006/7,when we were hammered 5-0,the Brisbane Test was Nov 23-27,Adelaide Dec 1-5,and Perth 14-18,still a large gap between 2nd and 3rd Test.

On the last tour,Brisbane was Nov 25-29,Adelaide Dec 3-7 and Perth 16-20.

The short gap between Adelaide and Perth is going to mean a lot of competition for flights. Best to book your Adelaide-Perth flight as soon as they go on sale I think.

The train only goes once a week now, and there isn't one currently scheduled on a suitable date. There are no buses serving that route nowadays, and it's going to be an extremely intense and gruelling drive for anyone planning to do it that way. You're looking at 30+ hours total driving time, which is going to be very tough without a whole lot of time for stop-offs along the way. Sharing of driving duties will probably be necessary.

I wonder whether the gap between Brisbane and Adelaide has something to do with The Big Bash?

I think you may have hit the nail on the head there Big H. It's a sad state of affairs when a domestic twenty20 tournament buggers up the dates of what alot (in England and Australia ;) ) would describe as the most prestigious test series in the world. It was bad enough that it was moved forward a year because of an international one day tournament, and now this :roll:

Note: I don't really believe the reason for moving it forward 12 months was the World Cup, I believe it was simply that the greedy b@stards couldn't wait to cash in again ;)

On the 29th-30th of Nov, there is a Chairman's XI (warm up game) in Canberra.

 As an aside, on the presumption that the last two tests will always be MCG boxing day, and SCG 3 Jan. Why don't they rearrange the first three. Have Brisbane first then Perth then Adelaide. Makes the last four a nice, albeit long, trip along the south coast ending up in Sydney. Seems that going to Adelaide then you go all the way out to Perth and back to Melbourne, doesn't seem efficient interms of air/train miles.

 Evening all, looking forward to catching up at the home of cricket, (the mcg) on Boxing Day.
Hopefully, the ashes will be back in their rightful home by then after the aussies complete a clean sweep later this year.
