Tickets go on sale first to members of the Australian cricket family. To get in on this initial sale you need to a) first become a member b) Pay with a credit card with an Australian billing address......I'm not sure if they will post to the UK or not at this stage?? They will then go on general sale a week or so later where you can purchase with an Eng credit card and they will certainly post to the UK. If you have friends etc in Oz that can purchase for you in the initial sale then that is obviously ideal, if not I wouldn't worry too much........in 06/07 when they introduced this crap system getting tickets was very hard, last time though was much easier.....don't think I heard of anyone missing out during the general sale. I wouldn't think demand will be any greater this time. |

In previous years and I have no doubt the same will be for this year, the tickets have been sold in stages, Stage one is someone who is a member of the Australian Cricket Family (ACF) and have an Australian address. Stage two is a member of the ACF who have an overseas address Stage three is open to anyone, but no guarantee that all tickets for all days are left. The ACF is free to join, so may well be what you need to do. |

As far as getting tickets went, there was no advantage to being a member of the ACF unless you had an Australian address and credit card. There were tickets guaranteed to be available for all days of all matches when the tickets went on general sale, regardless of whether the ACF allocations sold out in the first stage. If you wanted tickets for days where the ACF allocation had sold out, you needed to get in quick, but they were certainly available at stage 2, and plenty of people got them that way, including ACF members who had missed out at stage 1. Of course, there's no guarantee that they'll do things the same way this time, so feel free to join the ACF. To give yourself a genuine advantage though, your best bet is to get someone you know in Australia to join the ACF and buy your tickets for you. I did hear of a few people last time who successfully bought tickets in stage 1 with UK credit cards. My understanding is that by doing that you're running the risk of getting your tickets cancelled, so I wouldn't personally recommend it. I didn't hear any stories of that actually happening though. I can confirm that any tickets bought when they go on general sale can be mailed to a UK address. At least I know for certain that's been the case for the last 3 or more Ashes tours. |
