Hi all Am a newbie I have booked a Thomson Sport package for hotel and 5 day tickets for the Melbourne Boxing day test as a suprise for hubby as part of an independent planned trip to Oz. I understand from Thomson we will get our tickets form the Barmy Army once we are in Melbourne, is that right? I opted for the Swanston Hotel in Melbourne and the BA head quarters are nearby? How do we sort of "introduce ourselves" to you all once we there? Hubby is cricket mad..........................I am a cricket virgin but it all looks great fun!! Any advice? Ta Tiggery |

Hi, Myself and my better half are booked on the same tour, we have added an extra night arriving in Melbourne on Christmas eve. This is our first time with the Barmy Army so can't really pass on any tips. We travelled independently to Sri lanka last year for the Colombo test and found everyone to be extreemly friendly so no worries getting to know people. Hope to meet up with you there over a Beer. |

Hi Tiggery, we're also staying at the Swanston, this is the first time we've booked with the barmy Army so not sure when we get all the info. We get into Oz on the 17th and Melbourne on Christmas eve and then travel to Sydney on New years Eve, hoping to get tickets for day 1 in Sydney which we know will not be easy then have to fly home. It's gonna be a great trip see you there. |

I knew a few people who did the BA organised tour in Oz last time and it was a painless process getting your tickets. My pal was advised of a number of dates and times before the start of each test match where you had to get to a centrally located hotel, present some sort of ID (Passport I think) and your booking reference number, and in 30 seconds tickets were then handed over. Don't worry, this is what you are paying a premium for, and for what it's worth, I too booked my first ever overseas tour through an organised tour group. |

Contrary to what some would have you believe, its not actually a mortal sin to go on an organised cricket trip. Its just not what most on here prefer. Its your money and you spend it how you want. |
