Hi my partner and I are going to the first test in Brisbane, we have looked at the flights and have a good idea which one we want. As this is our first visit to Australia we would like some advice on which area to look at for reasonable b&b's and would like to hear any recommendations anyone more experienced may have. We also need advice on transfers from the airport. |

We also need advice on transfers from the airport. B&Bs do exist in Brisbane but are not that common. Like accommodation generally they're not concentrated into a single area. To get from the airport to the city I've always used the train. |

Hi, first posting on here! Am also doing the Brisbane test. This, and then a week or so in Northern Queensland for some chill and scuba diving. Have my flight booked London - Brisbane rtn already. As far as accommodations go, seems to be very little that's in the 'budget' range, even moderate hotels/motels are coming in at almost £100 a night. However, there are a few B and B type places dotted about, google Annie Shandons for an example of one. I've actually booked this place already for about £56 a night. Try bookings.com and they list a few other 'b and b' 'hostel' type places too. its my first time to Aus and am looking forward to it already!!! |

Hi, thanks for the replies. I have seen Annie Shandon's and a couple of others. They all are selling out quickly so we need to step up a gear I reckon!! |

I think you need to shift from 1st to 5th if you are to scoop in a relative bargain! What are you planning on doing for tickets? Am currently planning on waiting until June/July and the 'general sale', as it would seem getting tickets for this Test is not as difficult as some others. From what I've read, its still worth getting in early though. Wouldn't mind a day with the Barmy Army mind  Does anyone know what the situation is regarding the 'Australians first' ticket policy. If I was to ask an Aussie mate to get me a set of tickets with his Aus address and card, would they be sent out to him? Or do you have to pick the tickets up at a booth with the same credit card you used to book? |

The reason was that the series had been hyped to an unprecedented degree, and Cricket Australia was allowing ACF members to buy up to ten tickets each. Loads of Aussies did exactly that in the expectation of making a killing selling on their tickets to us at inflated prices. In the event it transpired that ticketless England fans were able to buy off scalpers for very significantly less than face value. Half price or even less in some cases! Last time the limit per person was 4, and it didn't sell out. Your Aussie friend should be able to get the tickets sent to his home address, or at least that's always been the case in the past. They're normally sent out well in advance too, so there should be plenty of time for him to post them on to you. |

A good bet would be to look outside the CBD (city centre). With Brisbane tickets you get free public transport on each day of the test. Just show your match ticket. This includes the whole suburban rail network. It also includes the river city cat river network which is a great way to get around and I think there is a stop not far from The Gabba. |

It's also going to be my first trip to Oz and first time travelling with the Army this November to the Brisbane test. Flights are already booked and I have sorted accommodation. I was wondering if the information regarding which stand the barmy army will be in has been released yet and the best way to go about buying tickets that are in that area of the ground. The thought of going all that way and having to sit with the Aussies is soul destroying! |
