It's also going to be my first trip to Oz and first time travelling with the Army this November to the Brisbane test. Flights are already booked and I have sorted accommodation. I was wondering if the information regarding which stand the barmy army will be in has been released yet and the best way to go about buying tickets that are in that area of the ground. The thought of going all that way and having to sit with the Aussies is soul destroying!

Not yet, but last time the BA tour group was in Section 31.

Don't worry though, here will be English scattered all around the ground, so you're unlikely to be completely swamped. Last time there was also a lively contingent of English singing very silly songs in Section 13 underneath the Press Box, which might be worth bearing in mind!

Hi, it is also our first trip and were wondering where you booked your accommodation and what type it is etc??
We have been looking at B&B's within a short distance of the Gabba and these are selling out fast.

Managed to get traditional B and B type accommodation at Spring Hill which is about 3 miles from the Gabba. Cost about £60 a night for a double bed room with AC. Apparently it’s a 10-15 minute bus ride from the ground which suits me fine.
