More than likely to go down further before you get there.

I'm not so sure? The only reason sterling dropped this week, was because of comments made by the new Governor of the Bank of England re interest rates. Once the markets realise he was talking bollox and hasn't got a clue, you might find out they bounce back. Also Australia's Economy isn't performing as well as expected which might help a bit. I don't think we'll be seeing the nearly 3 to the pound when I was there late 1998

And an extremely handy little peak that was whilst spunking a couple of grand on tickets last week!! Got 1.69 from Ticketmaster, not had Ticketek through yet (used a different card).

It was 1.65 on the day my sis bought my tickets. She will be over here end august and I've arranged to give her the ticket money plus maybe a grand in pounds at whatever the exchange rate is on the day she arrives. She can't lose as she gets her pounds at the rate she'd be paying anyway but with no bank fees or margins. I'll get a load of dollars ready for the tour with no fees or margins. If the dollar strengthens between then and christmas i've got lucky if it weakens unlucky. between us we may've lost a lot of money on bank charges otherwise.

How could people know that? If it was so obvious to go down and was such common knowledge surely the shrewdies and big hitters would pile in and take the price there now. The strength of the aussie dollar surely means that a lot of their perceived good future prospects is already factored in. All just a guessing game imo.

Not wanting to doubt your spending power, but pretty sure your holiday patterns have little effect on a billion pound a day currency market. Coincidences are still coincidences whether they work for or against you.

ok fernando, no worries.

Christmas party announced:

www.barmyarmy.com/tours/index.php?m=vie ... ctionID=73

£96 for non members. That does seem a bit steep for me even with 3.5 hours of unlimited drinks. I'm arriving in Melbourne on my own, that morning. So goodness knows how I'll be feeling.

BB. You going to the Christmas bash? I've just booked up for it. I'm working in Oz from mid Dec then staying on til after Sydney Test and my missus is not arriving until Boxing Day so I am going to this on my own and am keen to know how many others are also going alone.
