Ashes ticket sales began this morning at 9.00am in each state.
it has been chaotic to say the least. there are three different time zones which means ticket sales for each test match don't all start at the same time.
Melbourne had to be the odd one out and not start selling tickets until noon.
then you have to allow for which one to tackle first.....bearing in mind that Adelaide and Perth are smaller grounds so the potential is that you might not get tickets if you don't start there....but then....they are with two different ticketing agents. so you can't ring one for all your tickets.
atttamx was not far wrong when he talked about the frustration of buying tickets. been here for 6 1/2 hours now.....and Sydney still not done.
can purchase as many tickets as you want for one test match.....as long as they have them and you are willing to pay the price....bearing in mind that you ARE competing with the rest of the country for tickets....from two outlets.( am sure they both have just one phone ) !!!!!!!!!
you can try buying online but then the site shuts down on you if you want to buy tickets for separate days of the same test match.....yes......we ARE in Australia !!!
buy over the phone is the best option...as long as you have plenty of coffee....and a sleeping bag....but not all tickets in different sections have ben released. some are being held back.....checked with Cricket Australia and some are being held until 17th July for public sales....not sure how many or where.
but......there won't be too many to purchase by then.....they are selling very very fast.
can only hope Australia gets smashed in UK and people don't want to go here later this year and watch it all happen again.
the cheaper tickets are getting picked up very early....hope this does not dampen any body's spirits.....but...
just telling it like it is this morning buying tickets.
can't hope to get seats where you want them.....can pray....
bought for Brisbane, Adelaide ( was damn lucky there...could only get in dry zone ( gasp),
Perth and Melbourne...Melbourne was not too bad...but then...much bigger ground.
Sydney to go....but cheap tickets have gone.
silver and upwards left...( or sit with Aussie Army....)....suppose they could be taught a few songs....beats the hell out of listening to
aussie ausiie aussie.... oy oy oy........three years people...and I bet they got nothing new to throw at us.

Sounds like I got lucky then. Had no problem at all getting 3 tickets to Day 2 at SCG and 1 ticket for Day 3 and 4, all within 1-2 blocks of the Barmy Army. Then I had to get 11 tickets for Boxing Day at MCG at midday. I had 2 different ACF numbers (mine and my aunt) so I got 5 tickets for MCG in block next to Barmy Army on mine and then tried to get 6 on my aunt's. I got offered 6 in several different blocks (kept refreshing because they weren't anywhere near BA) which was a bit silly of me because after a few minutes of that I couldn't get 6 together so settled for 3 and 3. Then I got my 1 ticket for Day 3, also next to BA.

Logistically mine was a bit of a nightmare because there are 11 of us in total so I had to do a spreadsheet to work out who I was buying tickets for on what day and with which ACF number but once I got my head around that the site ran very smoothly with no delays at all. I was pleasantly surprised.

Well my sainted sister has sorted it all out for me. Got tickets in bays 12, 13 and 14 for days 1,2 and 4 at the SCG. They look close enough to the BA as far as I can see. Will be in bay 4 for family day(day 3) with her, the bro in law and 2 kids. Think that is Jane McGrath day too, should be a cracker. She has also sorted me the first 4 days at MCG, don't know where but hopefully close to the BA as I did tell her the location. She said MCG was much easier than SCG. Does sound a bit chaotic. I haven't even considered getting day 5 tickets, is anyone? I was just presuming you could turn up on the day for that, is that the case?

Pretty much my experience too, certainly no problems in terms of web-sites crashing etc, all seemed to work quite smoothly. Had same problem as you trying to get 9 together near BA for Melbourne Boxing Day, there didn't seem any way of picking blocks, just cancel your tickets try again and play the seating area lottery! Did still get 9 together but up in the Gods for the 26th.

Had to go Silver at Sydney too when bronze would have been preferred, looking at the seat map though there were hardly any Sydney bronze tickets!

Are these tickets available as 'general sale', ie to people like myself who reside in the UK? Or do I need to wait for the 17th July to purchase?

Am only interested in the Brisbane Test.

cheers

Anyone having trouble getting on the Ticketmaster website? I'm currently using a dodgy WiFi connection in Beijing but managed to get tickets through Ticketek no problems. Are there even any tickets left for Perth? Managed to sort Sydney and Melbourne (albeit not great seats) but struggling with this site.

No, this is just for ACF members based in Australia (thankfully I have a mate who has kindly provided me with her credit card details.) You'll need to wait for the 17th July, unfortunately.
