Well I can relax a little again now. Tickets sorted. Not too sure whether good or not as unable to selected block / seat... like other people mentioned, it was a case of 'refresh' until something came available that looked ok. I live in OZ but found it impossible to get through to ticket / ticket master on the phone.
ended up with:

Perth
Day 1: Block 12
Day 2-4: Block 13

Melb
Day 1: Bay 13
Day 2-4: Bay 15

Syd
Day 1-3: Bay 11
Day 4: Bay 12

Any good? Not too sure about Bay 13 at the MCG on boxing day ???? should be lively.
Also have a couple of tickets spare for Sydney test day 1-3 Bay 11 (Silver) if anyone interested.
Also thinking about doing the barmy army Christmas lunch at the Crown... has anyone done this before?? any good??

Finally managed to get through on there. Nothing left for Day 1 at Perth and on the non alcoholic bank for Day 2 and silver seats for Day 3.

Looks like I get the joy of trying my luck in general sale for Day 1 from rural China. At least the time difference is on my side here.

Block 13 in Perth? I thought that was reserved for BA tour party only?

Yes I am thinking of doing this too,it has good reviews, but I arrive 00.10 christmas day morning, not sure how fit I will be for a big beer up and dinner come lunchtime. It is $120 apparently and I shall be there on my own. anyone know how it works? How do you book? I am on my own and never been to a dinner where I don't know anyone. It is discussed somewhere on here on another thread.

edit: it is mentioned on the NYE thread a little lower down the page.

Are these tickets available as 'general sale', ie to people like myself who reside in the UK? Or do I need to wait for the 17th July to purchase?

Am only interested in the Brisbane Test.

cheers

No, this is just for ACF members based in Australia (thankfully I have a mate who has kindly provided me with her credit card details.) You'll need to wait for the 17th July, unfortunately.

Thanks. Will this be via ticketmaster .au or ticketmaster .co.uk ?

Guess I am probably better off just buying a calling card and phoning them if its the Australian version.

I cannot even begin to explain how pissed off I am...

I spent literally 10 hours today trying to get tickets (using the Cricket Family password) for any day at any city (because I've pre-booked flights and accommodation) and no luck. And now every time I search for tickets I get:

"Sorry, we're unable to obtain the tickets you requested at this time. Please try again."

My best hypothesis is that the ACF was only given a certain amount of priority tickets, because we all know what the Aussie cricket support is like! There is no way the first 3 days at the G have sold out. haha. I guess that seeing Sydney and more notably Adelaide are under construction certainly doesn't help. It’s a shame because last time in Adelaide was honestly the best 6 days of my life. I went alone that year as well!

Still the lingering question persists: Why is Cricket Australia so jealous of the BA that they have to make it as hard as possible for us to get tickets, not sitting in the best seats in the stadium, but TOGETHER? They are completely out of their mind. If the MCG for example had 5 or so sections dedicated to AWAY fans, and these seats could be purchased on the tickettek as the AWAY SECTION (BARMY ARMY), we would have less of a headache and Cricket Aus are guarenteed a packed barmy army section for each day of each test - Win, loose, hail, rain or shine.

Ok rant over! Sorry!

Heres to hoping that there are in fact more tickets available in BA sections on the 17th (I’ve called ACF twice and both times I was told that all tickets are available for ACF members)...

Luckily have friends living in Adelaide (Aussie) & Melbourne (Brit) who tried to get tickets for me & the missus today.

They both had a few website issues as explained by other posters, but we've ended up with General Admission for Days 2 & 4 at Adelaide and Boxing Day tickets for the MCG, although they are bronze over in the bottom tier of the Olympic Stand, so some way from the BA.

Still, can't complain and lets hope there's plenty more released on the 17th!
Good luck all :)

Try again today. I have just gone on Ticketek again and could get up to 4 seats together still for Boxing Day.
