A 5-0 whitewash would be well overdue for England. I can handle the fact Australia used to beat us with ease during the 1990s. They were streets ahead of us and we were an excuse laden, uncompetitive, rudderless, mentally suspect rabble if truth be told. However, in 2006-7 we had absolutely no excuses bar complacency and blind arrogance and sadly this turned out to be our decline. That 5-0 drubbing is still there in the memory banks despite the recent successes.

However, a nice 5-0 whitewash in our favour would more or less put paid to that!

I think you are spot on with regards to Eng's performance in 06/07. They were complacent and arrogant. However they were also rudderless too. In a team already missing two of their normal top 3 (Vaughan & Trescothick), as well as their leading wicket taker in the previous Ashes win (Jones), we were without our captain and rather comically being led by Fred.

That tour was never going to end well in hindsight, considering the Aussies were out for blood given their loss in Eng.

Eng, may never get this opportunity to inflict a whitewash on the Aussies, take it while they can I say!

2-0 England now. 4-0 and 5-0 are the bookies' joint favs at 7/2 best price, ie. 22% chance each of them. Bring on the good weather.
