No doubt someone will tell me that the aim was to have a look at 'squad' players and see how they fare on 'the big stage'.
Well I can tell you that it should never allow a performance to fall away so dramatically that what started as a very good run-out became a farce. Particularly the leadership - non-existent. Unless of course you accept calling the umpires decisions into question in which case SB was excellent. He also managed to keep himself out of the firing line when his experience was needed, so a self preservation point as well.
TBF he was probably given the poisoned chalice by AG insisting that the likes of young Jordan be practically bowled out (literally) when it was obvious he had 'gone'.
I'm sure Ben Stokes wasn't bothered about a bowl, why would he, the form player with the opportunity to keep it going. Nah better to just chase leather for the morning. Ravi ? Was he playing as well ?
This is supposedly a warm up series in preparation for an 'important' competition. Irrespective of the final result (would a win mitigate that performance) it has been allowed to perfectly reflect the slipshod, seemingly ambivalent disaster that preceeded it in Aus.
Who is overseeing all this .... the future england coach.

Heaven help us.

Couldn't agree more old cock.
Ashley Giles is the Grim Reaper of English cricket.Every England game he's is charge is accompanied by the sound of a death knell, signalling a national ODI side drowning in negativity.
How can Michael Lumb score an excellently-constructed century which England then conspire by their own idiocy to gift a victory to the Windies.
At the first sign of trouble and a couple of wickets down Giles's clammy hand could be seen gripping the team with fear - compare Darren Sammy's swashbuckling knock with England's timid,back-foot defensive playing middle order.
Giles spent his entire career as a negative spin bowler more concerned about not conceding runs and protecting his averages than going out to entertain and win matches.
Why this clown is even being talked about as an England coach is beyond me.
I think today's loss against the Windies disappointed me almost as much as the winter tour from hell.

I'm afraid thats all of us 'done' Rob. There is no other 'coach' in world cricket, who is worth his salt, who would accept the England job.
Which managerial post in any field would advertise for a new head, but would effectively tie the new man's hands by telling him he can't employ the best men needed to fulfill his task. Irrespective of your position on the KP affair, if you are taking the England job you should be able to employ all the tools in the drawer. Are there any other players black-balled, but we haven't been told of? Are the MCC committee of 1890, Lord Hawke et al, back in charge? AG was complicit in the decision, wonder what else he was prepared to say to get the job.

Heaven help us.

I think you have to be very careful how you categorise who is a 'real' supporter and who is enitled to vote with their feet. The travelling he's done in the last few years alone, entitles him to be regarded as a loyal fan.
Incidentally, once he's gotten over the initial dissappointment he'll be there, you can bet on it. :)
