I didn't know George very well but in the few years I have been touring with the Barmy Army I can't emphasise how helpful and welcoming GTP was to a newcomer like myself. I joined the BA/tours for the camaraderie and fun element as well as supporting the national team of my favourite sport. George undoubtedly was of the same view and truly demonstrated how to enjoy yourself whilst watching England. But what impresses me the most was how GTP would go absolutely out of his way to assist others. And, as i say, newcomers like myself got a huge amount of help and assistance with some really excellent information from him. I know there are many others on here that are equally as helpful and demonstrate the ethos of this great club. I just hope that GTP's memory will inspire others to be equally as helpful in future. I didn't know George personally other than occasional tour conversations and exchanges on this forum. However, I would like to show my appreciation to him by contributing to some flowers at his funeral. If anyone who did know George in a personal capacity is happy to make the necessary arrangements I would greatly like to make a donation. If so, please do pass on details and I will gladly make a Paypal donation. Kind regards, Matt (formerly Jeeder on this forum but I have had to set up a new account due to website issues) |

Hi It's good of you to suggest such a thing. I believe Gilo and Leafy are looking at doing something from the BA. If you want to do something more personal such as flowers or a card, let me know your email and I can send you his home address. Crouchy |

Cheers Crouchy. Huw emailed me to say that him, Gilo and Leafy are looking into arranging for flowers or charity donation (depending on family's wishes) so as and when I get details i'll make a contribution that way. Thanks again, Matt |

Yes, I've been speaking to Gilo and Huw on FB. Flowers are being planned, and we'll figure out a way for people to be able to make a donation if they wish |

link above still works a year on, so it appears donations can still be made in GTPs memory. Magnificent sum to a good cause in his name ... |
