Hi All

Trying to decide between West Indies (Barbados if it hosts one) and South Africa (Capetown) for a test tour in 2015.

This will be my first tour abroad so trying to decide which would be best. Barbados seems more expensive but I always think the banter is better with the west Indians.

Anyone got any preferences over these two. West indies would be in April and South Africa could make a nice Christmas getaway. Stumped...

Cheers

Do both as Cape Town will likely be in the New Year so that's actually a 2016 tour ;)

Both different. Barbados give you more a beach chill out sort of time if that's what you're after, but equally CT is stunning with plenty to see and do. My own prefence would be CT, but that's as I'm gonna head out for the World Cup in Feb so holiday's and what not.

It is. I have been to both Barbados and Cape Town many times. The rand is currently 18 to the pound making CT extremely cheap, although flight and hotel prices will go up over the new year period. Difficult choice, but I would just about choose CT.

Not been to Barbados, but did the last CT test. 18 rand is a very nice bonus

Planning on doing both next year, all things being equal

Never been to the WI for cricket, however have been to CT 4 times and love the place. Generally stayed outside of the city centre with Green Point and Seapoint being popular.

Greenpoint has gone quite a vast overhaul since England last toured, in anticpation of the 2010 football WC. New roads built, a starbucks and generally tourist type stuff, not always for the best IMHO !

Seapoint offers the "taxis" pickup a straight route into CT train station which once again has gone a major transformation following 2010... unrecognisable in some parts to those who remember 2009/10 and before

I would assume a 4 test series, the usual Durban before Xmas with CT, Pretoria and Joburg post xmas/NY.... personally it is a shame if PE loses out again....... lets hope they go for a five test series but I am not holding out much hope !

Of course Rob, I bow to your superior knowledge....... I am thinking back to the good old days of the 5 test series.... I hope they would return and include PE in that but not holding my breath
