It would be a disaster and a real backward step if Giles was even considered for the post.
I can't imagine how his dour and pessmistic outlook would do anything for team morale.
And while we're at it let's get rid of central contracts. All they do is encourage complaceny and mean England pick players who are out of form in the hope they'll come good.
They need to get back to playing regular county cricket and be picked on current form not their past record.

I can't believe it, he's done it again.
I agree with every single word. How the hell the majority of the squad, who where collectively awful, can play themselves back into form IN TEST CRICKET, is beyond me. They need to be playing at least some county cricket, particularly now the 1st division is so testing, to keep their games up to speed.
At the moment we meander from one series to another, sometimes playing and losing to 2nd string outfits as a warm up. In no other sport do the competitors play virtually no other games other than internationals. Time to re-appraise ? Ask Steve Finn.

I'm confused.
I read in my morning paper that Kevin Pietersen is back in London opening his own upmarket hair salon in Notting Hill.
Yet despite being picked for the World T20 squad and being desperately short of decent scores in any form of cricket he's not in Australia playing in the T20s.
Instead he's back home opening a bloody hair salon.
Perhaps it was all those great net sessions he had Down Under which the England management was crowing about which earned him that place.
