I am a scotsman who supports england and would love to go abroad to see them play as apart of the barmy army. but i am unique i use a wheelchair but that hasnt stopped me from traveling all over the world and climbing ben nevis. i would like to know how the tours work because i would be traveling alone is there a group or how does it work

Some people go on the official Barmy Army tour, some people book everything up themselves.

Details of the official tour which is run by Thomson Sport can be found here.

http://thomsonsport.com/event/barmy-army-tour-sri-lanka?utm_source=barmyarmy.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=Barmy_Sri_Lanka_Tour&cid=aff_Barmyarmy_Sri_Lanka_Tour

Otherwise, this forum is a goldmine of information so have a dig around the Sri Lanka forum further down the page and if there's anything specific that doesn't seem to be covered just shout up and someone will more than likely know.

EDITED: It appears from the website that the both tests and the 2nd test tours are sold out, only the 1st test trip is available. It might be worth a phone call to double check.

If they have sold out and you wish to travel with a tour group I believe Howzat Travel generally price their tours in the same ball park (ie miles cheaper than Gullivers/Sport Abroad etc) so it might be worth having a glance at them.

Inside Edge tours are another cheap option.

If you do choose to travel alone my friend you will normally get assistance from all and sundry, Mrs Wickets in a temporary wheelchair bound tour will vouch. However i cannot vouch for the transport options available for getting from A to B. SL did not appear to me to be 'friendly' to wheelchair users, mainly due to the fact that very few can afford them. May pay to research other users experiences before making a decision.
Hope you get their in one fashion or another, we do'nt get anywhere near enough 'Frae North 'o the Border'

For a 1st tour, probably a wise move. The friends you will make will ease your eventual expedition to the sub-continent.
