time for a shake up. I dont want to go back to the bad old days of the late 90's where we chop and change every test but there does need to be some changes as i feel complacency has set in. Hoggie and Harmison have gone yet our bowling line up has been struggling. We have only posted 400 once in 15 tests yet the batting line up has not changed. SA are top draw opponents and have exposed our weaknesses, back to back series against NZ i think gave Moores and Vaughan an unrealistic view of the state of our test team |

Ravi Bopara has been performing all season in all forms of the game. He has more than earned his chance and is a ready made replacement for Collingwood. Harmy is one of the top wicket takers in the country this season. He is bowling at 90+mph and has some confidence back. However, even at the peak of his game he struggled on tour, if he doesn't get his chance during theis series I don't think he should tour. Especially to India. He could possibly be brought in for the fast hard tracks of West Indies though. Simon Jones has also excelled this season. He has had a continuous, injury free run, which in my opinion was all the selectors where waiting for. He will get the call again, be it during the summer or for the tours. I think James Foster may also get the call for the tours unless Ambrose comes up with some runs before the end of the series. As for the captaincy, I don't think there is any doubt that Michael Vaughan is the best man for the job. However, his form does not justify even a place in the starting 11 never mind the captaincy. Don't think Shah is ready for no.3 test match status and Rob Key is not the future, don't really have a replacement...... |

If/when Simon Jones gets the call, its odds on he'll be injured. |

If you pick Harmison for the Oval test, would he tour India? |

I guess this India tour has been tailored to guys like him (ie: getting home for Xmas), but I'm still not sure I would trust him to be in my touring party. Tall bang-it-into-the-pitch fast bowlers arent exactly what you want to fill your squad with in India either eh? |

Collingwood's innings today was one of a man with balls of steel, but the open question is whether it leads on to more from him in his next few Test innings. Vaughan got a century at Lords against the Kiwis and hasn't reached 50 since. Bell got 199 at Lords but since then has looked all too likely to play a nice cameo and then a bad shot again. Definitely time to bring someone new in somewhere - the danger is we have players doing enough to stay in the side but no more than that. As for the bowling, I would hope Harmy will be back for the Oval, which in turn I hope has pace and bounce rather than being the batsman's brothel it normally is. Would love to see Jones back but my Worcester-based friend says he isn't ready just yet. Good to see this got a debate going because after Vaughan's comments about Pattinson's selection "destabilising" the team, the question has to be asked. I just think in that since so many batsmen get more chances we should have brought Hoggard back at Headingley. Methinks that Anderson may be dining out on his successes against a weak New Zealand team. |

Having seen the news of Pieterson becoming captain i for one would like to see a few changes to the side. Rob Key (In my eyes deserves a chance, you don't score a test match double hundred if your shite) Ravi Bopara (Has been awesome all season, just hope he can grab this chance with two hands) James Foster (Better gloveman than symbols Prior and the lad Ambrose) Time will tell if these selections come true, but we shall see. Is Prior in the 4th test squad because he's Peter Moores lover???? |
