superdek, ltl - news hot off the press.... just had a phone call from the receivers of whitehall leisure/sporting journeys etc who have explained that my flights and accomodation have been paid for and that there will be no problem with those, only thing that i will have to do is arrange my own transfer to and from the hotel.... so looks good, sounds like you guys should be in the same boat fingers crossed, it's so close to the date everything should've been paid by now so stand by your phone.......... let me know how you get on |

Hi. First Post. I've just had a call from the administrators informing me that Sporting Journeys has collapsed. They confirm my Flight was ok, but they weren't sure about the Hotel (Dover Beach in Barbados). I have spoken to both Virgin and the Hotel and both have confirmed they have received payment in full, so it looks like only transfers and a car hire booking may have been lost. Hopefully others will find themselves equally lucky. |

My husband just heard from the receivers. Our flights are sorted but the hotel isn't. (We are - were? - booked into the Island Inn, in case anyone else is.) Still not sure how I feel about all this - we've been saving for two years for this trip and I don't know whether to laugh or cry! |

Superdek, we rang BA to confirm our flights. If you call your airline, they should be able to check for you whether your flights are okay. |

First the shambles of Jamaica and now this !!! Booked with Sporting Journeys to travel from Manchester 22nd Feb with Virgin and staying at Dover Beach for 2 weeks. Spoken to both today and had it confirmed that both Flights and Accomodation have been paid in FULL (so at least we're still going !!).Also arranged match tickets through SJ and spoken with Barbados Overseas Services who are the transfer/ticket agents. Although not had it fully confirmed the person we spoke with appeared to indicate that they had all the tickets ready for delivery to Hotels and that transfers may also still be included (we have booked daily transfers to/from the Oval each day also).I am currently awaiting an e-mail on this matter from BOS.This appears to contradict what the Administrators have been saying so would value any info on the match tickets and transfers situation. Just spoke to Barbados Overseas Services who confirm that the transfers have NOT been paid for by Whitehall Travel. So its every man/women for themselves from the airport/hotel and the same applies to anyone who had arranged travel to each day of the test match. Therefore are any of you staying at the Dover Beach (Virgin flight from Manchester 1330hrs 22/02) that may be intrested in sharing transport on arrival and on a daily basis when the cricket starts.Transport (taxi's etc) is likely to be expensive for round trips and possibly in great demand so sharing would be cheaper and best option. Then again there are always the 'reggae buses' as the cheapest option. The main route is also likely to be 'crammed' on match days i would imagine so anticipate early starts from SLG each day. The man at BOS did confirm that all match tickets have been purchased and are to be delivered to hotels the day after arrival. Ainsy |

To add my four penny worth. I booked through Sporting Journeys and only found out the sorry tale through this forum, Ive had no contact from the travel agent, administrator or anyone. Anyway, thanks to the information provided in this thread, i can confirm that my flight from Manchester with British Midland on Feb 23 is still valid, I checked with both the people handling the liquidation and British Midland. I have been advised that the hotel booking is probably not ok and to deal with the hotel (Dover Beach) direct. if need be re book or book elsewhere and claim the money back through ATOL/ABTA on my return. I will have to sort my own airport to hotel transfers out. A bit of a phaff but Ive been looking forward too long to be put off. Some useful numbers I used that may help others Company handling the liquidation (cant remember name, Jenny something or other) 0207 216 4626 British Midland 0870 6070555 CAA 0207 453 6350 (very busy long hold time) DONT LET 'EM BEAT YOU see you under the Bajan sun |

"Claim your money back through Atol/Abta on your return". You could be in for a long wait. |
