The Barmy Army CC are heading to New Zealand for their next overseas tour. After the recent triumphs down under in Australia and the successful retention of The Bashes, the Barmy Army XI roll into New Zealand ready for their next challenge. Eagerly awaiting our arrival are the Beige Brigade and are sitting pretty as current holders of “The Rashes” – (poor NZ joke/imitation of The Bashes).
As usual we will hold our fans games the day before each test match starts and are already looking forward to our opening game to be held at North Shore CC, Devonport on Wednesday 21st March.
What: Barmy Army vs Beige Brigade
When: Wednesday 21st March
Where: North Shore Cricket Club, Devonport
The 1st Rashes test will take place at Devonport Domain, home of North Shore Cricket Club. Nestled between three extinct volcanoes on the Devonport peninsula and surrounded by 70 - 100 year old trees, it is regularly acclaimed to have the best pitches in Auckland.
Directions – catch the Auckland-Devonport ferry and then turn right out of Devonport terminal onto King Edward Parade for ½ mile. Follow the road round onto Cheltenham Road and the ground is on the left.
Our second and final game of the Rashes series will be played at the picturesque setting of Elmwood Park. We’re very excited to be hosted by Old Boys Collegians CC, who have been represented by the great and good of New Zealand with current international stars Todd Astle and Corey Anderson on their books.
Directions – catch the 100 bus (towards The Palms) from Riccarton Road (nr Westfield retail complex) to the Heaton Street near Glandovey Road stop. The ground is on the left and the journey takes about 10 minutes.
