Adelaide - the birthplace of the Barmy Army
In 1994, a group of backpackers descended on the Adelaide Oval in front of the iconic scoreboard and began singing songs to support the England team. The press branded them the ‘Barmy Army’ for there unbounded support and the rest as they say his history. It also happens to arguably be the most picturesque ground in the world and the town itself lives and breathes cricket.
As well as the matter of an Ashes Test, explore over 200 cellar doors within an hour’s drive of the city, get up close and personal with Aussie wildlife in the wild and relax on stunning golden beaches on the city’s door-step. Example Itinerary for a week in Adelaide
Here's how a week in Adelaide with Barmy Army Travel might look in the Ashes 2025/26. This can be either by itself or as part of one of our several packages as seen above.
Day 1 - Arrive in Adelaide
Regardless if you are just joining us in Adelaide or have come from Brisbane, our rep will be there to greet you at the airport and usher you onto your transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 - Visit a Vineyard
You’re in the heart of South Australia’s celebrated wine region so come on our optional trip to a vineyard in Barossa Valley. You can savour exquisite wines while enjoying picturesque vineyard landscapes, with your fellow Barmies.
Day 3 - Bashes Match and Pre-Test Party
Come and join us at our legendary Pre-Test Party which will be a sell out and included in your package. Sing the night away and get those pipes ready!
Day 4-8 - The Second Ashes Test
After a comprehensive drubbing with Cummins and co. running scared in Brisbane, it’s onto the 2nd Test match. Your official Ashes tickets in the Barmy Army section, a bespoke tour shirt and transfers to and from the ground are all included. Just get Jerusalem ready to go in your head!
Day 9 - Day at Leisure
Today you have the chance to find out all that Adelaide has to offer.It has a vibrant, cosmopolitan feel all year round, particularly in its revamped East and West ends. It has topnotch cultural institutions and is blessed with surrounding natural beauty.
Day 10 - Travel Day
Your time in Adelaide is complete. Either fly home or we’ll have your transfer sorted onto Perth as the Ashes continue. All domestic flights will be incorporated into your package.
